Laptops and desktop systems remain in the classroom and do not move with the teacher. All moves have been anticipated and all classrooms have updated/identical systems.

If you are moving classrooms you will need to do 2 things:

  1. Backup/transfer all of your documents/photos/videos/music from the current hard drive you use

  2. Prepare to move your @schools.nyc.gov iTunes account to your new room

How to backup/transfer all of your documents/photos/videos/music from the current hard drive you use:
2 options
  1. Thumb drive backup
  2. Dropbox transfer

If you choose to use a thumb drive
  1. Insert your thumb drive
  2. Copy all of the files on your Desktop, in your Documents/Movies/Music/Pictures foldersto your thumb drive
    • It is highly recommended you retain the same folder structure on the thumb drive (i.e copy your Desktop files to a folder on your thumb drive called “Desktop” to ensure you a] don’t lose any files b] ensure you know how to easily find them when you add them to your new system)

Copy files from thumb/flash drive to corresponding locations on your new classroom system (i.e Desktop/Documents/Movies/Music/Pictures folders)

If you choose a Dropbox transfer

    • There will be a folder called “Dropbox” within your Home folder in your Finder
  2. Copy all of the files on your Desktop, in your Documents/Movies/Music/Pictures folders to your Dropbox folder
    • It is highly recommended you retain the same folder structure on the thumb drive (i.e copy your Desktop files to a folder on your thumb drive called “Desktop” to ensure you a] don’t lose any files b] ensure you know how to easily find them when you add them to your new system)

In September
Check the Applications folder of your new system to ensure Dropbox is installed
If it is not installed, use a browser to navigate to www.dropbox.com to download and install Dropbox
